Our Good Circular Practice:

During the process of washing sand for concrete (CYS EN12620), we use 300 tons of water for every 100 tons sand. Water and dry sand with 30% of 0.0063mm, entry the sand washer. Using a gyratory pump, the pulp (sand and water) goes through cyclone. From the cyclone we get 2 materials, washed sand (final product) and pulp (20% of 0.0063mm from dry sand and water). The washed sand goes to our yard with a conveyor belt and approximately contains 18-20% w/w water. Because of gravity and compression of the material, water flows out of the pile. Our yard is designed with a specific slope, so that all the water that flows out of the pile and through a system of pipes, goes back to the water tank ready for reuse. After 5 days, final product contains 5-7% water (humidity). The pulp goes to a thickener. Using a chemical called flocculant, we separate solids from liquid (water). Solids in a form of mud with only 5% water, goes to drainage tank. With this procedure we take back for reuse 90-95% of the water. In a yearly base we reuse 200000 mᶟ of 260000 mᶟ of water that is needed for washing the sand.

The yearly need for water is 265000 cu.m. Only 30000 cu.m pumped out of a private source. 235000 cu.m are recycled.
